What are the common maintenance items for special vehicles used for transporting mining equipment?

Sep 18, 2026

Special vehicles used for transporting mining equipment are mostly used in underground or open-pit mines. The operating environment is dusty and the roads are bumpy. These vehicles bear heavy loads for extended periods, so proper daily maintenance can reduce the probability of vehicle malfunctions. During use, several maintenance checks need to be carried out according to a schedule.

I. Power and Transmission System Maintenance: Regularly check the levels and condition of engine oil, coolant, and hydraulic oil, observing for any deterioration or increased impurities. Inspect transmission components such as the gearbox, drive shaft, and differential for any abnormal noises or leaks, and change the lubricating oil as scheduled. Also, clean the surface of engine cooling components to remove mining dust and prevent poor heat dissipation from affecting equipment operation.

II. Running and Load-Bearing Component Maintenance: Focus on checking the wear of tires and tracks for cracks, missing pieces, deformation, or other damage, and promptly remove any debris stuck in the gaps. Inspect the suspension, frame, and connecting pins, paying attention to any signs of cracking in the welds, and tighten any loose bolts. The chassis is the core load-bearing component and requires regular deformation checks to ensure structural stability.

III. Hydraulic and Braking System Maintenance: Mining transport vehicles rely heavily on hydraulic mechanisms for lifting, steering, and other actions. Maintenance involves checking hydraulic lines and joints for leaks and cleaning hydraulic filters. The braking system directly impacts operational safety; therefore, it's necessary to check brake fluid and brake pad wear, test braking response, and troubleshoot air leaks and seepage in brake lines to ensure reliable braking function.

IV. Electrical System and Protective Component Maintenance: Dust in mining areas can easily cause wiring aging and poor contact. Maintenance personnel need to check for cable sheath damage, loose terminals, and clean all sensors and lights. They should also check anti-collision, warning, and dustproof protective devices, clean accumulated slag from equipment surfaces, and inspect protective shells for deformation or damage.

Overall, the maintenance of mining equipment transport vehicles covers multiple modules, including power, travel, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Maintenance work needs to be scheduled based on site conditions, implementing daily inspections and periodic maintenance. Timely identification of potential problems helps maintain the normal operation of vehicles and reduces unexpected breakdowns during operations.
